I am the type of girl to get excited about Jan 1st right after Christmas.

A chance to layout my dreams with a plan and ideas to get me closer to my ideal life, sign me up!

Today I want to share a few ideas of how to set business goals so you can grow your business, save time and build the life you dream of!

A book to read: The 12 Week Year

*If you prefer audiobooks check out Scribd (It’s $14 a month and you get access to a lot of books including this one!)

I am in the middle of this book but I wanted to share a few tips that will help you with setting your goals.

Major thoughts from the 12 Week Year:

  • Setting yearly goals gives you space for excuses
  • Setting 12 week goals gives you motivation to take action
  • Your big goals determine your 12 week action plan

1. Questions to Start With

What is working in your business in 2022?

What wasn’t working in your business in 2022?

What action led to the most profit in your business last year?

What do you want your life to look like in 2023?

As you journal these answers think about what you need most in your life and business. Is it income? Leads? Flexibility? More doing what you love and less of what you don’t?

2. Determine Top Actions

Now with those answers, we can explore a few goal options to incorporate into the weekly schedule for the next 12 weeks.

List out the actions you need to accomplish the goals you explored in the last step.

Now put them in order based on priority.

3. Make a Plan

This section needs to be realistic for you. I wouldn’t recommend adding more than 3 or 4 new goals into this period of time because it can be overwhelming.

The secret to accomplishing the goals is momentum. The more small steps you take the more possible the goals feel.

Let’s look at the 12 week goals and break them down into Monthly, Weekly and Daily action steps.

For each lay it out on paper. What needs to happen monthly, weekly and daily to make it happen?

Example of Goals Broken Down

One of my goals for 2023 is to incorporate creative freedom Fridays. I want more space to just be creative and create without it being linked to a client. I’ve also been wanting to create a 4 day work week for myself and Friday’s would be fun to have the freedom to create.

What does this look like?

Monthly: Check-In. Did I have four creative freedom Fridays?

Weekly: Block out space and put together ideas for my friday date!

Daily: What do I need to accomplish today to hold space for friday?

Break down your goals into Monthly, Weekly and Daily actions.

4. Get Started

Now go take action. Don’t overthink it. Don’t stress about it. Just go get started!

Some tips:

  • Do everything you can to not miss 2 days in a row. At that point it’s easier to lose the streak and not get back into it.
  • Track your days. Write down what you get done and track your routines to add those new goals in.
  • Get accountability. Add someone into the process to remind you of our goals and what it means if you get them done.

I am so excited for 2023, it’s going to be a great year! 👇🏼 Share with me below what goals you made for 2023!
